<image:title>works - Attempt to bounce a ball from one projection into another (2013)</image:title>
<image:caption>16mm double-screen installation. Exhibition view - Motion in Form. From a series of works that use the form of actions-across-frames, this simple performance for camera, split over two screens, shows a ball bouncing out of the projection frame, seemingly re-appearing in the screen on the opposite wall. The double-screen film installation activates the space through suggesting that the action witnessed in frame continues in the out-of-frame, between the two screens, in the space of the viewer. The 16mm film projectors are considered ‘performers’ and as the looping film continuously shifts in and out of synch, they mark out a fluid time in space.</image:caption>

<image:caption>16mm looped film installation. Exhibition view - Motion in Form Attempt to throw a paper plane from one frame into another is part of a series of works using actions-across-frames, is shot on Standard 8mm film and printed uncut on 16mm, thereby resulting in the 4 frames being visible within the projection frame. This film is a formal experiment with the material and the medium. The frames on the left are shot before those on the right, so the attempt to somehow synchronise the flight path from one frame into another is determined by chance across different points in time.</image:caption>

<image:caption>16mm film loop of a performed action. Levitation is a 16mm film of a medium format photograph of a performed action for still camera. The film forms not only a physical loop of the material, but also a metaphorical loop of action stilled and animated. As an installation the film projector is slowed, so the figure in the image is seemingly hovering.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Single-screen 16mm film performance for camera. The film’s duration is determined by the camera’s mechanism in correlation to the physical endurance of the performers. The performed action has an inherent tension and as the tensile prop (a large balloon) is squeezed between the performers, the suspense builds until it is finally released. Situated in experimental film and fine art practice, the work is informed by performative actions for camera from art, film and dance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Double screen-16mm film Unrehearsed performance for two camera’s simultaneously. The attempt in this specific action for camera is to completely walk through both frames to exit on the right before both film camera mechanisms wind down and the performance needs to be repeated from the starting point. Untitled (Slackline) is the most recent in a trilogy of double-screen performances for camera using a rope acting both as a mechanism to divide the image/s and as a connection of the body and physical action between them.</image:caption>
